My PIC Programmer (the PICkit 2 USB programmer from Microchip) just arrived, along with a PIC 16F887 experiment board. To try it out, I hooked it up to an LCD display unit that I've had since many years but never tried. After googling for some datasheets and writing a bit of assembly code, it was up and running. PIC processors may be simple and slightly weird, but they're damn fun to play with!
